Customer request
To transform an aging period apartment into a modern, minimalist space, while retaining the soul and charm of the period. One of the client's main constraints was not to alter the existing volumes, and to adapt the finishes and layout to the space.
Our solution
Highlighting the ceiling heights, letting in light and bringing purity and minimalism, while playing on finishes in several styles: contemporary, baroque, modern, etc. to bring in the funky & colorful touches of the times. To visually divide the spaces, we selected various wallpaper patterns, finishes and textures.
The customer's wish was to use only natural materials, including linen, which is used extensively for upholstery and blinds. The Casamance wallpaper selected is a 100% linen voile on non-woven. The other materials were chosen to create a gentle blend of modern and baroque styles.
For something a little more unique and offbeat, we played around with details like Gebruder Thonet's Dedar wild silk for the dior folds of the bed's tapestry, in harmony with the color of the splendid SHEHERAZADE wallpaper by Maison Pierre Frey.
Bringing out the splendor and elegance of this former hotel was one of our most important missions. To achieve this, the studio brought out its palette of bespoke craftsmanship to bring out all the soul and charm of yesteryear: carpentry, upholstery (headboard trim, bedspreads, linen blinds), and wallpaper were all made to measure.
